Three things to add to your Summer Bucket List

It’s officially summer, friends, and as photographers, we are loving it!

It’s the weddings and the events. It’s the lush landscapes and the fine art photography. It is every portrait and product that has come before our lens. It is the excitement to capture something new today that has not been captured before.

Four people sit on a rock at the ocean.

As we close out the first half of this year, we are excited to look back at the seminars we held in both the Eastern and Central regions, as well as another year of our dynamic East Coast School that just wrapped. We are preparing for more fun in the second half of the year with our upcoming annual conference, the Carolina Photo Expo (Are you joining us? Sign up today!), as well as Western Seminar that will come out in the fall.

There’s so much that we’ve done, and so much that lies ahead. Which makes it the perfect time to pump the brakes and to pause. Take that deep breath here. Hold it.

Hold it.

And release.

Doesn’t that feel good?!

In the pausing at this mid-year point, I have a question for you. Have you made your summer bucket list? Because – yo! – that can be everything at this time of year. There are the usual fun things to add: get ice cream at your favorite stand, grill outside, make ribs, seek beauty. These things start my list, anyway.

Unsure what to add to your summer bucket list? I have 3 things to start you off.

  1. Join us at Carolina Photo Expo this year. Come with your curiosity, and you’ll amazed at the return on your investment in creativity.
  2. Sign up for an Academy Class. No, this is not summer school. Yes, each of the instructors are dynamos in their field and wildly passionate about teaching others. With six classes to choose from, there is something for everyone.
  3. Follow your Curiosity. I am a *big* believer in this. What is calling your curiosity in this season of summer? Is it wanting to perfect your lighting or your Lightroom? Do you want to try something new? If so consider the smallest to the largest, from macro photography to commercial architectural photography. Finally, what about moving way out of your comfort zone to try something new? Beginning portrait painting holds your siren song, and no painting smock needed. Finally, consider elevating your brand by building your authority with content and SEO.

There are so many things to do and to add to our Summer Bucket List.

These three are a surefire way to invest in yourself, learn a technique, hone a skill, and become a better and stronger photographer. I will be doing all three on this list.
