Words of wisdom from the print competition judges

March 12th, 2011

Print competition is very serious to professional photographers.  It is a wonderful way to learn and grow our skills as a photographer.  Some times we feel good and receive honors and awards after print competition.  Other times, it is good to have a thick skin.

Regardless, we know we can learn from what the judges say.  What is the best way to learn anything?  To have fun in the process of course.  Here is a little video created by a few PPNC members regarding print judging and the famous “78”.  (FYI: A 78 in print competition is like a close but no cigar score)  Hopefully, the judges will enjoy this bit of humor too.

Overall though, I’ll give it a 78!

On Monday afternoon of the PPNC Convention, Jennifer Hudson shared her knowledge, feelings, talent and inspiration with a room filled with photographers.  Jennifer also demonstrated her skills and methods during a session.

The images she created of the model are amazing.  You can see some of the images Jennifer created during her program and her thoughts about the convention and the people of PPNC in her blog post “Sweet North Carolina”.

Jennifer will be returning to North Carolina to teach a class at this year’s East Coast School, July 31st though August 4th.
