The convention offers five information packed days of workshops and instruction. The convention is free to all members. Trade Show PPNC members receive free admission to the Trade Show at the annual convention. The Trade Show showcases vendors of interest to the photographic trade. The PPNC Trade Show is one of the largest in the south. Awards Banquet PPNC members receive free tickets to the formal awards banquet held at the end of the annual convention. The banquet includes dinner, entertainment, and presentation of awards. East Coast School The East Coast School is an affiliate of the Professional Photographers of North Carolina and the Professional Photographers of America. Held annually in July or August, ECS offers week-long courses in all aspects of professional imaging. Print Competition The print competition offers an opportunity to see how your work compares against that of your peers in judging, plus the chance to gain honor and recognition for your achievements. Scholarships PPNC members have the opportunity to apply for several scholarships to the PPNC's East Coast School and other Winona affiliated Schools. Regional Guild Meetings PPNC members receive reduced registration at three meetings offered each year. The meetings offer two days of instruction with state as well as nationally recognized speakers. These meetings are held in the Eastern, Western and Central regions of North Carolina, easing member's access. Publications PPNC members receive subscriptions to the award winning periodicals, the "Carolina Photographer", published twice a year and the PPNC Newsletter published six times a year. These publications keep you up to date on activities and informed about the membership. Degree Program PPNC members are able to earn distinguished credentials that identify them as quality-oriented professionals, worthy of the recognition of their colleagues. Lending Library A collection of over 100 slide/audio, audio and video tape programs that can be rented by the membership. Networking PPNC members are willing to share with their fellow members their secrets to success and are there to support you if the need arises. SEPPA Membership PPNC members automatically receive membership into the Southeastern Professional Photographers Association (SEPPA). SEPPA benefits include free admission to the SEPPA convention held every other year in Atlanta, GA, free subscription to the "Southern Exposure", published four times a year, and reduced print entry fees for the PPA affiliated judging. PPNC Membership Directory PPNC members receive a roster listing all current members of the Association. This directory gives you the entire membership (with photographs) at your fingertips, connecting you with the photographers who face the same challenges you do, day in and day out. PPNC Website PPNC members are able to access Membership directory and updated news about the association online with the PPNC Online website. National Recognition PPNC has representatives who work with the Professional Photographers of America (PPA) to keep members current on national events and news affecting the industry. Your Contribution As a PPNC member, you have a great opportunity to make a contribution to your profession through your participation in various activities. As your business and technical skills increase and your awareness of the needs of the profession grow, the contribution of your time and expertise to the PPNC will directly benefit you, your fellow members, and the profession in general. &benefitsI=&levelsT=Membership Levels&levelsB=INITIATION FEE: Required for first time applicants and/or if membership has expired or elapsed*. Waived for Student Category. For studios with five or more members applying for the first time, one initiation fee will be charged. Dues:$ 25.00 ACTIVE MEMBER: Individuals who are residents of NC actively engaged in the profession of photography, and who derive a major portion of their income from such photographic activities. Active Members shall have the right to hold office in the association and have equal voting rights together with Life Members. Active Members shall have all other rights including the right to use and display the association name, seal, and/or decal with the "active" designation. All Active Members must be of legal age. (18)* Dues:$ 210.00 ASSOCIATE: Individuals who are residents of NC and employed by an Active Member of PPNC in a partnership, by a corporation, or who are individuals engaged in the profession of photography. Associate Members have no voting rights, nor the right to hold office, but are entitled to other activities and benefits. Dues:$ 165.00 STUDENT: Individuals who are residents of North Carolina, full-time students enrolled in a nationally-accredited institution of higher learning, who can provide student identification. Student members have no voting rights, nor the right to hold office.* Initiation fee will be waived for the Student category. Student members are eligible to attend PPNC Annual Convention providing they work in the print salon under the guidance and supervision of the Print Salon Chairman. Dues:$ 70.00 ASPIRING: Individuals who are residents of NC and are considering the profession of photography as a full-time or part-time career. This membership does not require a NC Sales Tax Number or a NC Privilege License number. Membership in this category is for two years only. At the end of two years, the member must switch to an active or affiliate membership as long as they satisfy the requirements. Aspiring members have no voting rights, cannot display the name, seal, and/or decal, and do not have the right to hold office, but are entitled to the other activities and benefits. Dues:$ 165.00 OUT-OF-STATE: Professional Photographers employed outside of the state of NC, who are interested in the growth and development of the PPNC. Out of Sate Members have no voting rights, nor the right to hold office, It is recommended and encouraged that Out-Of-State members join the state association where they are located if located within the territory of the Southeastern Professional Photographers Association. You are not entitled to SEPPA benefits unless you join your home state organization. Dues:$ 165.00 * Only Active and Life members may use the association name, seal, logo, and/or decal with their proper membership category designation attached in their conduct of their professional photography business. Final Classification category at the discretion of the PPNC Board of Directors. Photostat copies of NC Privilege license, NC State Sales Tax certificate and 2 business references from the local area are required for the "Active" category. No use of PPNC privileges is allowed until final approval by the Board of Directors and official notification from the Membership Chairman. The Board of Directors (majority vote) has the right to make exception to the membership requirement. Enhancing The Profession PPNC is one of the nation's largest associations of professional photographers - with over 500 members, we offer our members the best seminars and professional photographic schools, as well as "networking" with some of the best professional portrait, wedding, and commercial photographers in the United States. PPNC is made up of three "Guilds" (Eastern, Central, and Western), each of which represent about 1/3 of the state geographically. Each Guild holds a two-day seminar each year,with nationally-known and local speakers.
